Do you know how much “Med-Pay” you have? If you are a Colorado resident who carries Colorado auto insurance then you have at least $5,000 in Medical Insurance Coverage or “Med-Pay” for short.
Med-pay is medical coverage that supersedes your Health Insurance in the unfortunate case of a car accident.
Med-pay can be used to pay for Emergency Room visits, doctor visits, Acupuncture, Chiropractic, or Massage. You automatically have $5,000 worth of med-pay in Colorado, unless you opt out of it in writing. You may also increase this coverage if you like — which I highly recommend for people with high deductibles on their health insurance policies. Why do I suggest this? – because med-pay supersedes your health insurance, there are no co-pays or deductibles to meet before you can use it. For more information about Med-Pay in Colorado visit DORA (Colorado’s Department of Regulatory Agencies).
The time to be sure you have this important Med-Pay coverage is before you need it. Contact your insurance carrier if you need to clarify your policy or need more coverage.
And if you unfortunately do end up in an accident and need to use your Med-Pay, remember you consider Acupuncture for your health needs. Fort Collins Family Acupuncture is here to help.
