Kimberley’s first experience with acupuncture and Oriental medicine (AOM) was in the late 90s when she was working in a cigarette smoke-filled environment. She developed a deep chest cold. Kimberley’s roommate insisted she go see “her” doctor. As they were to the doctor’s office, Kimberley had no idea her life was about to change forever; she just hoped to get relief from her cold. The acupuncturist, Dr. Wang, treated her with acupuncture, Tuina, and Chinese herbs and sent her on her way. Her cough and phlegm were gone in two days, whereas most of her colleagues lived with these symptoms for weeks. At that point, Kimberley started using acupuncture and Oriental medicine as her primary health care—from knee pain to common colds—and she has never looked back.
In 1997 Kimberley received her BA in sociology with an emphasis in social work. She received her Master’s in Traditional Chinese Medicine degree 2008 from Five Branches University in Santa Cruz, California. In 2008 Kimberley became certified as a diplomate in acupuncture and Oriental medicine by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), and she obtained her Colorado license to practice acupuncture in January 2009.
Kimberley spent many years serving her profession on both the State and National Boards. She believes in not only helping the individual but staying involved and contributing to the AOM community-at-large. Her hope is that anyone who needs the benefits of AOM can have it readily available to them as part of their insurance coverage. Kimberley is the owner of Fort Collins Family Acupuncture.
